About Us

Rural Financial Counselling Service Tasmania (RFCS Tasmania) is a statewide, confidential and free service, providing information and support for the farming, small rural business and fishing industries.

RFCS Tasmania is part of the national Rural Financial Counselling Program, and receives its funding from the Australian Government, DPIPWE, Rural Youth Tasmania, and a number of commercial sponsors.

RFCS Tas has staff throughout Tasmania. We are able to visit you at your business premises and assist you to understand your business and financial position, access financial information including government benefits, discuss options and provide decision support. We can assist clients to determine action plans to address industry adjustments and climate change pressures.

RFCS Tas encourages all farmers and fishermen finding it tough at present to seek assistance. It may be just for a quick chat to assess possible options for assistance, or to look at some long term planning to return to a more viable enterprise. Some of the things we will work through once your financial position has been assessed may include your production strategy, financial reviews, marketing and risk. We have a wide network of professionals who we can draw on to set your business in the right direction.
